COMENIUS MULTI LATERAL SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP

Download an Outline of the Comenius Project in PDF

Our school was accepted to take part in a two year European Union Project (2008–2009)

We are working with 2 schools in Germany, 1 school in Denmark, 1 school in Turkey and a school in Hexham!  The focus of the work for European Partnership Schools (children, families and adults in school) is:

  • To make long lasting friendships and working partnerships.
  • To become aware of the local area (historical, geographical, cultural) of each partnership school.
  • To work together on the importance of having a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet.
  • To cook a selection of healthy meals in each school, focussing on a shared theme.
  • To communicate with each other (adults and children) via e.mail.
  • To visit the schools/areas in the partnership – teachers and children.
  • To conclude the work by producing a European Recipe Book illustrating our shared experiences.

Hamm & Gummersbach - Germany
Hannah and Rhys travelled to Hamm in Germany with Mrs Shaw and Mrs Mitchell.  It was Rhys’ first time on an aeroplane, and everyone’s first experience in a skytrain! They visited the schools in Hamm and Gummersbach and received a wonderful welcome.  They met their partners (children and adults) and visited interesting parks, museums, and the town of Hamm. Click here for a full report.

Odense - Denmark
Lucy and Thomas travel to Denmark at the beginning of February.  They are visiting Odense, the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson – a Fairytale that should be had by all!

Eskisehir - Turkey
Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Shaw have made some very good links with partner schools and these will be longlasting.  Mrs Mitchell will travel to Eskisehir in Turkey in June to conclude the presentation of our recipe book which will be available to anyone who would be interested by September.
